Unhoused
Unhoused: A Tale of Two Cities tells the story of two homeless individuals who face the choice—and opportunity—to leave the streets forever. A Jamaican immigrant seeks the American dream, but high rents and “wage theft” stifle his quest. A woman struggling with alcoholism ends up living in the alley behind her apartment after her girlfriend kicks her out. It’s hard to be homeless in the summer, but at least it’s possible to sleep outside. Winter can be unbelievably daunting. The film unfolds in the gritty, post-industrial landscape of urban upstate New York, where life seems at a dead-end until someone, an advocate, steps in to offer a choice and potentially a way out.
